Good evening super moms. Please I would like to get everyone's opinion on some postpartum care (things women do after delivery). What's your take on the following: 1. Using hot water on the vagina 2. Using hot water on the stomach 3. Using hot water on the baby's body 4. Tying cloth in the tummy to help it go down Your responses are very important as many people will learn from this.

Its good .. it really helped my on my 1st child.. I went back to sweet 16 ???? in space of 2months.. my mum did a good job .. my son is 11yrs now .. people don't believe I gave birth to him ..

All are very good. Do It and you won't regret. But no.1 shouldn't be hot but warm..

No1) is called baby sit i.e you put warm water and salt in a bowl and sit on it at intervals,it helps to heal your vaginal very well,heal any stitches and also to bring out unwanted blood in your system.(2) using warm water on the stomach is also good if you see someone that can help you press it well, but some people do complain of stretch marks on the stomach after pressing with hot water but body differs cos I don't experience stretch marks on my tummy when I did it with my first child and even up till now. (3) using warm water on baby's body is also good but not too hot, when you press the baby with warm water it makes their body strong and they will not be feeling pain due to the stress they pass out from that our small Virginia during delivery,by so doing they will be able to sleep well and enjoy their sleep and it will make their navel to heal on time there by not making them to feel stomach pain,cos if you don't press the Tommy well with warm water you will see them struggling with stomach pain at 2 to 3 months. (4) if you are comfortable with tying clothes on your Tommy after delivery is also good but for me is not that comfortable for me so I only do from no 1 to 3 which is very much good. thanks

All are wrong acts. The aim of no 1 and 4 is to allow the tummy to go down right!, rubbing the uterus for involution to take place is better. The reason for the bukky abdomen is because the uterus is still in the abdomen and once it's being rubbed very well, it goes back into its normal position which is the pelvis(involution) within 6weeks of delivery. Taken warm water can also help though. No 2.hot water can make wounds on the vaginal to break down if sutured, instead use warm water with dettol to wash. No3..well, our mothers do practice this ,they believe it makes the baby strong but medically, I don't think there's a rationnel behind it...

beauty , I think I love your response because it's in line with what we were told in the hospital. But please can you explain what you mean by rubbing the uterus or how I can do that. Secondly are you a first time mum, if no; so you didn't practice all this when you put to bed. I really need your response please

I am a mother of 3 and rubbing of uterus while lying on my back is what I have been practicing and has been working for me. No stretch mark, no flabby abdomen...though I do have my birth with warm water.

Sarah , Immediately after delivery, the uterus is at the level of the umbilicus(navel) if u palpate it. A gentle massage on the uterus preferably while lying down helps in the contractions of the uterus which will invariably causing a quick return of the uterus to it's original size and position.this is not achievable in a day though...but within the 6weeks of delivery.

beauty , When u give the uterus a gentle massage, the uterus contracts pushing out the remaining blood in there.
